Not really.....in fact I've never been or ever plan to go fishing in my life; I just like the romance of the visual. The Kitchen Kitsch family are on a short break up at the Sunshine Coast with limited internet access and the wettest weather we've had in months! Miss H and Miss M are doing a splendid job of pretending it's a sunny 30degrees.....in between trying to strangle each other. Mr D is off playing golf with another Mr D and I'm putting together a slide show for my lovely aunt's 80th birthday lunch at my place on Sunday....yes, the day after we get back. Aaahhh the joys of wet family holidays! Lots of end of year pics to post when I return......

It Is Done.....!
Just a quick one today. The market was heaps of fun; it was great to see some familiar faces and also welcome some new ones. Thanks so much to my friends and family who came to support Kitchen Kitsch and help ease the financial burden on the poor family with the disabled child. Thanks a million!! ....and a huge thanks to my lovely friend Mrs.C for her invaluable help and fabulous sense of style! I couldn't have done it without you; and my super talented Mum who tirelessly sewed her heart out! Here are some snaps!
Now, no rest for the wicked, tonight Miss M has a full dress, hair and makeup rehearsal for her ballet concert before the real deal tomorrow and Wednesday nights so I am off to paint the tap shoes, clean the ballet shoes, pancake the tutu (you heard me!) and fall in a heap! I love doing things for my kids and am glad I am able to help with these things but in all honesty I just want to put up my Christmas decos and make my Chrissy cake! Thursday.

Busy Busy!
I can't believe it has been more than a week since my last post. I adore Christmas but unfortunately never get a chance to sit back and enjoy the lead up and I know I'm not alone when I say this. I'm horrified to admit that I haven't even put up my Chrissie decorations......abominable!! I usually like to get them up mid November so I can drain every last drop of enjoyment out of them.
So what have I been doing? And why do I think anyone wants to know?! Well, apart from ballet rehearsals, tap rehearsals, costume checks, Christmas concerts, work, and the general day-to-day running around (and a movie with Big Sis that I squeezed in at the start of the week! Belated birthday pressie, thanks Mrs.S!) I have been madly crafting, pricing, ticketing (and stressing) for my very first Market Day on Sunday! It's been fun and madness all at once. Here are the official details.....would love to see some familiar faces on the day, and it's for a great cause. A Brisbane family with a disabled little boy need help after thieves stole money intended for their endless medical expenses. If that doesn't get you there, nothing will.........

Old Wives Tales
I love a good Old Wives Tale as much as the next person so I'm hoping my latest tale proves correct. I have some lovely vintage fancy-worked doilies which have a few minor "old age" stains on them and I was given a quaint Old Wives Tale from my Mum as to how to remove these stains.
Here goes:
"Soak the articles in eucalyptus wool mix for at least 24 hours, then hang them on the line all day in the sunlight then all night in the moonlight and then another day in the sunlight. The results are really very good, the secret being the moonlight. No kidding!"
PS How beautiful are these Spring mornings??!

The Fun We Had!
Well fun for me.....toasting my new business with a lovely bottle of champers we brought back with us from our holiday in France last year. Oh France......how I love her! My only wish was that we brought back more than one bottle.
Oh and Happy Birthday to my 87 year old Grandmother! When I gave her a call tonight and asked her how old she was (oh come on...it wasn't the first thing I blurted out to her...) she said she wasn't sure but everyone was telling her she was 87! Bless her... Can't wait until I'm of the age where not only do I not remember how old I am but I don't care less either!

I'm Celebrating!
Kitchen Kitsch is now officially a business!!! I received my Registration details from my accountant in the mail today......now it's serious....and I'm seriously overwhelmed! Kitchen Kitsch will showcase a collection of my Vintage inspired aprons made by my clever Mum with a little bit of help from me, fabric craft such as bunting and noticeboards, vintage plate clocks, vintage and upcycled bric-a-brac, linens and much much more!!
I will also have a range of Christmas goodies that I'll be selling at the markets on November 27 (see previous post). These include Christmas aprons, decorations made from vintage doilies and fabric and lots of other lovelies.
Unfortunately Mr.D is working tonight so I'm saving the celebratory champers for tomorrow night when he is on his "week end"; until then I'll just do a very subdued "punch the air" and dream of what's to come......

Oh yes I did!!
.......look what I won on Ebay! I know, I know, technically I didn't win it but I feel like a winner with this gorgeous beast in the Kitchen Kitsch house. She needs a little spruce and a new coat of paint but I just know we are going to be BFFL. Thanks to Mr.D and my ever supportive parents who helped me haul the bounty home and after much huffing and puffing landed her safely in my now very crowded lounge room. Stay tuned for more updates........
On another note, I have signed up for my first market day so I have been madly crafting and designing treasures to sell. This will be held on Sunday November 27 at the Moreton Bay Trailer Boat Club in Manly and is a fundraiser to aid a Brisbane family in need of money to buy essentials for their severely disabled son.......if that doesn't get you there, nothing will. I will post more details as they come to hand!
